Packing for Your Trip to The Bahamas

A trip to The Bahamas isn’t your typical vacation. It might be a once-in-a-time family trip. Unless you’re near the area, you might be traveling a great distance to reach there. Just think, traveling from Wilmington, NC, to The Bahamas is an over 600-mile journey by plane. And traveling from somewhere like San Diego, CA, is a more than 2,000-mile voyage. The last thing you want to do is forget something and arrive in a foreign place and need to venture out while you’re on your vacation to get it.

Here are some helpful tips on what to bring to prepare for where your vacay takes you.

Clothing

This seems like a no-brainer, and it is. However, you want enough articles of clothing and the right ones for wherever your trip may take you.

We recommend knowing what you want to do while you’re in The Bahamas. For instance, do you play to rent a quad in Nassau and enjoy the wind in your hair? Then, you’ll want to bring comfortable clothing you can move in but isn’t too loose to prevent it from snagging.

Make sure you pack at least one dress-up outfit in case you decide to enjoy fine dining, like the Graycliff Restaurant.

Ideally, you should have outfits like you usually wear on a hot day and have at least one or two spares.

If you’re planning on hiking or working out at the gym at your hotel, pack a pair of workout clothing as well!

It’s hot here, as you’re probably already aware. If science has taught nothing, dark colors attract heat while light reflects. We recommend you dress in light-colored clothing any time you’re planning on spending most of the day outside.

We also suggest packing at least one lightweight, long-sleeved shirt, jacket, and pair of pants.

And don’t forget to pack your bathing suit! A trip to Nassau, Bahamas, wouldn’t be complete without at least one day at the beach.

Sunglasses, Sunscreen, and a Hat

The sun radiating on your skin may give you a warm feeling of contentment, but the sun is damaging to your skin. And the last thing you want to do when you’re on vacation is to sightsee at the infirmary because of a severe sunburn,

Therefore, make sure you have a hat and sunscreen. Sunglasses are also beneficial, especially if you’re planning on taking a tour in Nassau or spending your time on the water at any point.

Shoes

No shoes, no service… isn’t that how the saying goes? But besides no service, you also have to consider you may need different pairs of shoes for different events.

You may need a dressy pair of shoes for any place you’re dressing up and a pair of sandals or flip-flips for the beach. And if you’re planning on renting a quad in Nassau, you’ll want to have a pair of tennis shoes. They’ll also work well if you’re planning on walking, hiking, or any other similar activity where you’ll be active.

When you come prepared to take that tour in Nassau or enjoy the beach, you’ll have a much better time, knowing you don’t need to find a store that carries what you need and can just get to enjoy your trip. Plus, when you think ahead, you won’t have to forego any plans because you don’t have what you need.
